Chapter 10: First Night

"You said I could keep the room until I remembered you on my own," I whispered. "I just remembered your hands."

"That isn't the same."

"It's close."

"Lydia." His voice was low and not quite steady. "You're in my bed. That's the room rule you broke."

"Then take it back from me."

He laughed, a short, helpless breath against my hair.

Then he turned his head and kissed me.

It was slower than the one in the rain.

His hand curved along my jaw, and I felt every bit of it down to my feet.

I pulled off my wet coat.

I had slept in my sweater, and I dragged that over my head too, and the cold air hit my skin.

He went very still.

"Look at me," I said.

"I am."

"Then tell me what you see."

"You," he said, hoarse. "You, and I have no idea what I did to get here."

I pushed him onto his back.

I had never done that to anyone, and I did it without thinking.

I sat across his hips and pulled his shirt up, and he lifted his arms and let me take it off him.

He was warm and solid, with a faint scar along his ribs.

I put my mouth on it.

His stomach tightened under my lips, and he said my name through his teeth.

"Slow down," he said.

"No."

"I mean it. If you want to stop at any point, you say so, and I stop. Right away."

"I know," I said. "That's why I'm not going to."

His hands closed on my hips.

They were shaking.

I reached down between us and found him through his jeans.

He was hard and hot against my palm, and he made a sound that went straight through me.

"Fuck," he said. "Lydia."

"Say it again."

"Lydia."

I opened his jeans.

I wrapped my hand around his cock and stroked it slowly, from the base to the tip.
