They Thought I Was Out Cold, So I Let All Four Keep Going novel · Chapter 1 of 24
Chapter 1: Carried Up the Stairs
Snowed in at her brother's lodge, Verena goes limp on the stairs and hears four men carry her to bed and touch her; Tobias stops her at the edge and sends the others out, then stays.
At dinner, the lodge's bookkeeper laid a buy-out offer next to my plate while all four men watched.
"Take your time," he said. "Read it twice."
I didn't touch it.
The storm had closed the only road to the village that afternoon.
Nobody was leaving the lodge before Saturday.
My brother died fourteen months ago on the slope behind this house.
He left me one fifth of it.
These four men owned the rest, and they had been his partners for eight years.
The man at the head of the table sat in my brother's chair.
Nobody mentioned that.
"Nobody pushes you here, Verena," Tobias said. "Nobody touches your things or your decisions without your say. Not in this house."
The lodge manager filled my wine glass to the brim and winked at me.
The ski instructor watched me over his plate and said nothing, which was how he said most things.
"I'll give you my answer on Friday," I said.
"Friday," Tobias said, and went on cutting his bread.
I carried my full glass to the windowsill and left it there.
Then I said goodnight and went up.
For three days they had talked around me.
Stefan changed the subject when I walked in.
Jonas stopped mid-sentence.
Felix looked at his papers.
On the third step I decided I wanted one night of what they said when I wasn't in the room.
So I let my knees go, slid down against the banister, and shut my eyes.
Somebody swore, and boots hit the stairs.
"She just dropped," Stefan said. "Felix, she just dropped."
Felix's fingers pressed under my jaw.
"She's breathing," he said. "Pulse is fast but steady. She's barely eaten in two days."
Another hand took my wrist.
It was Tobias.
He held two fingers there much longer than Felix had, and he said nothing at all.
"Put her in the blue room," he said at last.
Jonas lifted me, and my head fell against his shoulder.
He smelled of cold air and pine soap.
They laid me on the bed upstairs, and the quilt was cold under my back.
"Felix, get your bag," Tobias said. "Check her blood sugar."
"Her jeans are too tight," Stefan said. "She can't breathe in these."
Nobody stopped him.
The button opened and the zip came down, and cold air hit my thighs.
Felix's footsteps went out and came back, slower.
"Look at her," Jonas said, low. "She's been looking at Tobias all week, and now she can't even see who's here."
"Jonas," Stefan said. "Don't."
"She's out cold, Stefan. Look at her."
A finger drew a line up the inside of my thigh and stopped on my underwear, right over my pussy.
I felt the cotton cling.
I was soaked through, from the stairs, from Tobias's fingers on my wrist, from knowing four men stood in a dark room with me.
"Jesus," Jonas said, and his voice cracked. "She's dripping."
"She must be dreaming," Stefan said.
"Nobody dreams that hard," Felix said quietly. "Stop. She can't agree to this."
"Then tell us to stop," Jonas said.
Nobody did.
I made my decision in one plain sentence: I kept my eyes shut.
The finger slid along the wet cotton again, slowly, and I locked my jaw so nothing came out.
"What do we do?" Stefan whispered.
"Nothing," Felix said.
"We can't just stand here."
"We can't do this at all. What if she wakes up?"
"Then she wakes up," Jonas said. "Look at her nipples."
My sweater went up, and air hit my bra.
Fingers pulled the cup down.
"She likes it," Jonas said. "They're hard."
"She's asleep," Stefan said. "She doesn't know what she likes."
"Her body knows," Jonas said.
For a moment nobody spoke.
I could hear all four of them breathing.
"Let me feel," Tobias said.
The finger on my underwear lifted away, and I almost whimpered at the empty air.
Then a different hand took its place, bigger and rougher.
The cotton was dragged aside, and Tobias's fingers found my bare, wet skin.
He did not explore.
He took.
Two thick fingers pushed deep into my pussy in one stroke, and my hips tried to rise off the bed before I stopped them.
He started fucking me with them, fast and hard, while his thumb ground down on my clit.
"Christ, Tobias," Stefan breathed.
"Look how she takes it," Jonas said. "She's gripping you."
"She's asleep," Felix said, but his voice had gone thick.
Tobias's thumb drew tight circles while his fingers drove in and out.
The wet sound filled the silent room.
I was going to come.
Another few strokes and I would come on his hand with three more men watching.
I bit the inside of my cheek until I tasted blood.
Then he stopped.
His fingers slid out of me, and I lay empty and shaking, and held every muscle still.
I heard the small wet sound as he lifted his hand.
Nobody spoke.
"Out," Tobias said. "All of you."
"Tobias," Jonas began.
"Out. I'll sit with her."
Boots crossed the floor.
Stefan went first, and Jonas followed, slow and angry.
Felix hesitated at the door.
"Go," Tobias told him.
The door clicked shut.
The chair did not scrape.
Instead the bed dipped beside my hip, and a warm hand settled on my bare stomach.
Tobias had stayed.
