I read it twice at my desk.
Then I gave my coworker back her phone.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm at work," I said.
My branch manager called me into her office ten minutes later.
She had the post up on her screen.
She closed the door.
"Corporate's seen it," she said. "We don't comment on members, or on employees' families. That's the policy."
"I understand."
"I'm telling you the policy so you know I'm not allowed to say this." She folded her hands. "Don't let that woman near my branch."
I laughed, and it came out wobbly.
"And Julie. Whatever you say back, say it once."
I drove home with my phone face down on the passenger seat.
It buzzed the whole way to Worthington.
My mother met me at the door with her own phone in her hand.
"Four of the women in those comments are on my prayer chain," she said grimly.
"Mom, don't."
"I'm not doing anything. I'm praying for them. Specifically."
My dad wanted to drive over to Ron's.
