Chapter 16: The Hot Spring
The spring lay behind the cabin in a bowl of black stones, and the steam from it went straight up into the stars.
Snow lay on every rock around the rim.
The water was hot as a bath.
I sat on the ledge up to my breasts, with my glasses folded on a flat stone.
My hair was pinned up in a wet knot.
Gunnar stood at the edge in the dark, naked, with the steam curling around his legs.
"Get in," I said.
"I'm admiring the view."
"Admire it from in here."
He stepped down into the water, and it rose around his hips, then his ribs.
He waded across the pool to me, slow, with his eyes on my mouth.
Nobody for four miles in any direction.
No phone, and no ledger, and no one who had read a word of us.
I opened my knees, and he came to stand between them.
The water lapped at the swell of my belly.
He kissed me, with hot wet lips and a tongue that tasted of the black tea we had drunk on the porch.
I wound my arms round his neck and my legs round his waist.
His cock pressed hard against me under the water.
"Sit up on the ledge," he said.
"I am on the ledge."
"Higher."
He lifted me by the hips, and I sat on the cold flat rock at the rim.
The water lapped my knees, and the night air bit my wet breasts.
I gasped at the cold.
He ran his hands up my thighs, and his eyes were gold in the dark.
"Lean back."
I leaned back on my elbows on the snowy stone.
He kissed the inside of my right knee, then my left, and slid his shoulders between my legs.
His mouth closed over me, hot as the spring.
I cried out, and the sound went up into the steam.
He licked me with long hungry strokes, from my entrance up to my clit and back.
His beard was wet and rough against my thighs.
"Gunnar."
"Mm."
"Oh, God. Right there."
