"She's lying," I said.
"Then come in at nine and show me," the editor said. "Bring the book."
She hung up.
Colm was still standing by the stove with his T-shirt rucked up at the back where my hands had been.
"I'll drive you," he said.
At five to nine on Thursday morning, I walked into the Guide with Keely's notebook in my hand, not hidden in any lining.
The editor's glass office had three chairs in it.
Keely sat in one in a navy suit, her ponytail perfect, her hands folded on a stapled statement.
The editor took the notebook from me and turned it over in her hands.
She opened it to the last page.

"Miss Vickery swears she has never seen this book," the editor said. "She says the handwriting is a good copy, and that you had every reason to make one."
"She's right about one thing," I said. "I had every reason."
"Can I ask you to open something?" I said. "Keely's filed review of the Kinsella. The one that won the star."
