Chapter 4: Still Up

Elliot watched the whole video with his lips pressed flat.

When it reached Poppy on the steps, he stopped it with one thumb and handed the phone back.

"That's the one she's not supposed to be in," he said.

"It's in the order. Every image off the pages by last night."

"Then call whoever put it up."

I dialed Garner with my free hand and walked to the end of the dock.

He picked up on the second ring.

"Sadie, I was about to call you."

"You posted her face. Crying. In front of two million people."

"I didn't post anything."

"It's on your account."

"It's on the account, and I can't log in to it." His voice cracked. "Since last night, it keeps saying the recovery email isn't mine. I recorded the apology and sent it to Bree, because Bree always cuts it. I told her no footage of Poppy. I told her."

"Then she used it anyway."

"I'm sure it was old b-roll. She had hundreds of hours of it."

I held the phone away from my ear and breathed.

"Garner. Take it down."

"I can't. I'm locked out. Call Bree."

He hung up on me, which he almost never did.

I called Bree.

She answered on the first ring and she was already apologizing.

"I know, I know, I saw it, I'm so sorry. It's my fault. Garner sent a rough cut and I put in a reaction shot from the archive without checking who was in it. I pulled it ten minutes ago."
