I slid off the console and pulled my skirt down before Hank finished his sentence.
My underwear was somewhere on the floor, and I did not look for it.
Devon put himself between the door and me, his shirt hanging open and his belt still loose.
"Get out of this room," he said.
"I'm not in your room," Hank said. "I'm in the building where your manager is allowed to walk."
"Not tonight."
"Tonight especially."
The man in the good coat kept his phone up and did not say a word.
I picked Devon's jacket off the floor and put it on over my torn blouse.
Then I stepped around Devon, because I was done being the one who was talked about.
"What outlet?" I asked the man.
He blinked.
"Excuse me?"
"Who do you write for? I'd like to spell my name correctly for you."
"Laurel," Devon said.
"It's Laurel Quinn. Q-U-I-N-N. I'm twenty-seven."
The man looked at Hank, and Hank gave him a small nod.
"The Daily Strobe," the man said. "Entertainment desk."
"Good. Then you'll want the whole story, and not the half Mr. Dorsey brought."
