Chapter 14: The Roof Pool
Nicki's POV
The rooftop pool was empty at two in the morning, lit blue from underneath, and Asher's mouth was already on my stomach.
I sat on the edge of the deck with my feet in the water and my hands braced behind me on the warm tile.
He stood between my knees, chest-deep, with the water running off his shoulders.
The thin gold ring flashed on his left hand every time he moved.
It still stuck at the knuckle.
He had not tried to take it off once in two days.
"You wore that to a board meeting," I said.
"I turned it so the stone faced my palm."
"There's no stone."
"Then I turned the nothing to my palm," he said, and bit the soft skin under my navel.
I laughed, and the laugh broke in the middle.
Past the rail, the whole dark Atlantic lay open under a half moon.
The city glowed along the Boardwalk below us, and nobody in it knew we were here.
Asher put his hands on my thighs and pushed them wide.
"Lie back," he said.
"No."
"No?"
"I want to see you," I said. "I want to watch you do it."
He looked up the length of me, and the blue light from the water moved over his glasses.
He took them off and set them on the tile by my hip.
Without them his eyes looked bare and young.
"Then watch," he said.
He kissed the inside of my knee, then lower, then the long muscle of my thigh.
I felt the scrape of his stubble all the way up.
He kissed my hip bone.
He kissed the line where my thigh met me, so close that I lifted my hips for him.
"Please," I said.
"Say what for."
"Your mouth. On me. Asher."
He gave me one slow lick, bottom to top, with the flat of his tongue.
My head dropped back and I swore at the sky.
He did it again.
Then he closed his mouth over my clit and sucked, soft, then harder, and I grabbed his wet hair in both hands.
"Yes."
His tongue flicked and circled, and his fingers slid into me, two of them, and curled.
I felt the water lapping at the tile behind his shoulders.
