Chapter 10: Prince

Lars's apartment was small and warm and smelled like coffee.

There was a couch with a blanket on it and a shelf of beat-up paperbacks.

On the wall hung a framed photo of a woman in scrubs hugging a younger Lars on a frozen lake.

Ty took it all in over Lars's shoulder in the one second before Lars pushed him against the door.

"You broke your rules," Ty said. "All of them."

"Most of them."

"Name one you kept."

Lars thought about it.

"I didn't say your first name in front of the team."

"Do it now."

"There's nobody here."

"Say it anyway."

Lars looked at him, and Ty felt the whole room change.

"Ty," Lars said.

It was low and plain and carried no heat except what Ty's own pulse supplied.

"Again."

"Ty."

Ty dragged him down by the collar and kissed him.

Lars's hands went to his jacket and pushed it off his shoulders.

It landed on the floor with a muffled jangle of keys.

"Bedroom," Lars muttered.

"Couch is closer."

"Bedroom."

He walked Ty backward down the hall, kissing him the whole way, until the backs of Ty's knees hit a mattress.

Ty went down on it, and Lars followed him.

He kissed Ty's throat and the hollow under his ear.

Then he worked down the buttons of Ty's shirt, kissing each inch of skin he uncovered.

Ty arched into his mouth.

"You're taking your time," he said.

"You said I was the one with a plan."

"I said no such thing."

"You thought it." Lars scraped his teeth over Ty's collarbone, and Ty's breath broke. "Go to sleep, Prince."

Ty laughed, startled.

"You're not funny."
