Chapter 32: The High Chair
Mickey took the carnations.
They were cold from outside, and a little crushed from being held too hard.
"And?" he said.
"And here I am."
"You were gone an hour and seven minutes."
"I stood on the corner for twenty of them," Vin said. "Then I wanted to see him wake up."
The baby woke up right then and yelled.
Mickey held him out.
"Your turn," he said. "Diapers are on the dresser."
Vin took him like he'd taken the cat, one hand under the head, very serious.
He changed the baby on the quilt.
He got it right on the second try.
By June their son could hold his head up and grab anything in reach.
Keys, mostly.
He went for Mickey's picks every time Mickey bent over him, and Aoife said that was genetic and also a problem.
