Three hundred people looked up at the screen.
Nobody said anything.
The quartet in the corner stopped in the middle of a bar.
"Turn that off," Joan said, to the side of the stage.
The older receptionist folded her hands on the table beside the laptop and didn't touch it.
"You've just seen the first two," I said into the microphone. "The court never saw either one."
A woman at the nearest table put her hand over her mouth.
"The one witness who knew was told not to come." I pointed at the front table. "He told her."
Every head turned to Ellis.
He sat very straight, with spilled wine soaking into the cuff of his shirt.
"The third one," I said, "isn't mine to tell."
I held the microphone out.
Bram came up the three steps with his sleeve rolled to the elbow.
He took it from me and stood beside his sister.
He was a head and a half taller than her.
He didn't look at her once.
