Chapter 10: The Veil

"Say it," I told him. "Whatever it is, say it now."

Lorcan got up and went to the window.

He stood with his back to me and his hands braced on the sill.

"After the Moot, I went to the Moon-Keeper," he said.

"I made her put her hand on my head and look at my link."

"I can't prove it yet.

"The Moon-Keeper won't swear to it.

"A veil can't be traced to the one who cast it, not unless the caster is standing in front of her."

"Then bring Brynn in front of her."

"If I accuse her now, she'll say I'm lying to keep you. The pack will believe her.

"She's the one with the mark, Cori. The elders will take her side."

"Of course they will."

I pushed away from the desk and paced.
