Chapter 10: Terms Broken

He kissed me hungrily, with nothing held back.

My back hit the door frame, and his hands were already at my sweater, pushing it up over my ribs.

"Rule three," he said against my mouth.

"Shut up."

"You made it."

"I know what I made."

I got his shirt open, the last buttons going all at once.

I put my mouth on the hard line of his collarbone.

He made a low sound and lifted me off my feet.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and felt him through our clothes, thick and hot against me.

I rocked into it and heard myself moan.

"Bed," he said.

"You can't carry me."

"Watch."

"Your heart," I said, and my voice broke on a laugh. "Lucian, I'm serious."

"Then listen to it."

He pressed my hand flat against his chest.

It pounded under my palm, fast and strong and perfectly regular.

"That's a man who wants something," he said. "Not a man who's dying."

He carried me through to his bedroom and put me down on the edge of the bed.

I didn't wait to be asked.

I pulled my sweater off over my head, and then my bra, and the cool air touched my breasts.

He stood over me and looked, and I watched his throat move.

"Do that again," he said, roughly.

"What?"

"Look at me like that."

"Like what?"

"Like you've already decided."

I had.

I opened his belt and his trousers and pushed them down his hips.

His cock sprang free, heavy and flushed and already wet at the tip.

I wrapped my hand around it, and his whole body jerked.

"Mara."

"Your hands are shaking," I said, and I looked up at him. "Don Ruggiero."
