Chapter 13: Cold Room

He locked the office door behind us, and I had him against it before the bolt stopped turning.

The warehouse was empty at that hour.

Past the glass partition the compressors thudded in the walls, and the one lamp on the steel desk threw our shadows long across the concrete.

I took his tie in my fist.

It was dark blue and hung straight against his white shirt, and I pulled it until his head came down.

"You said you'd do what I say," I said.

"That was the cottage."

"It's still tonight."

His eyes went over my face.

"Yes," he said.

"You went to my uncle alone," he said, low.

"I walked into that room and he had his hand on you.

"Never again, Thalia.

"I'm not giving you an order.

"I'm begging."

"Make me," I said.

I kissed him hard enough that his head knocked back against the door.

His hands came up to my waist, and I caught his wrists and pinned them flat to the wood on either side of him.

"No," I said.

"Not yet.

"You don't touch me unless I tell you to."

A breath went out of him, ragged and low.

"Say it back."

"I don't touch you," he said, "until you say."

"Good."

I let go of his wrists.

They stayed where I had put them.

I undid his tie, slowly, and drew it out from under his collar in one long pull.

He watched the silk slide across my fingers.

I opened his shirt button by button.

I laid my mouth on the hollow of his throat and felt his pulse going wild there.

I pushed the shirt off his shoulders and down his arms.

I ran both my hands over his chest, through the dark hair, down his stomach to the long white scar on his side.

He was hard already.

I could see it through his trousers, and I put my palm over it, and he made a sound through his teeth.
