The ballroom had been clapping.
It stopped in pieces, table by table, until only one person near the back was still going, and then he stopped too.
Kylie stood in the spotlight with her hand still half raised for the trophy.
"Sorry?" she said.
"Every itinerary in your concept arrives on a Tuesday," Henry said. "You wrote that. It's on the slide behind you. Why Tuesday?"
Kylie looked at the screen.
The Quiet Week was still up there, ten feet tall, the empty beach and the single boat.
She looked back at Henry.
Then out at the room.
Six hundred faces looked back at her.
"Because," she said.
Her mouth stayed open.
Nothing else came.
Somebody at a table near the front coughed.
"It's," Kylie said. "It's a feeling. It's, like, the whole idea is that it's quiet."
"Why is it quiet on a Tuesday?" Henry said.
Kylie's eyes went to Bryce.
Bryce stepped in front of her and took the microphone off its stand with a big, easy smile.
