Chapter 7: Night Four

He opened the door of 1412 before I knocked.

He was in a white t-shirt and gray sweatpants, barefoot, with his hair rumpled.

He looked like a man who had been standing on the other side of that door for an hour.

"You came," he said.

"I said it was my choice."

"You did."

"Close the door, Reed."

He closed it.

I took off my coat and let it fall, and then my blazer, and he watched every piece land on the carpet.

"I'm angry today," I said. "I need you to know that. It isn't at you."

"All right."

"I want you to be good at this and not gentle."

"I can do that."

"Then sit on the couch."

He sat.

It was a long cream-colored couch facing the window.

He sat in the middle of it with his arms along the back and his eyes locked on mine, the gray gone dark.

I unbuttoned my shirt, slowly.

I took my time with the buttons, one, two, three, until it hung open and the lace underneath showed.

His throat moved.

"Jacqueline."

"Don't talk."

I pushed the shirt off my shoulders and stepped out of my trousers.

I climbed onto his lap, a knee on either side, and pulled the t-shirt off over his head.

His skin was warm and I put my mouth on his neck, and he hissed.

His hands came up to my hips.

"Not yet," I said.

I took his wrists and put them back on the couch.

"Keep them there."

He gripped the cushions.

I kissed him slowly, then not slowly, grinding down on him through the thin cotton until he was hard and I was soaking wet.

He bucked up into me.

I unhooked my bra and let it go.

His eyes went to my breasts and his whole body tightened, and I took one of his hands and put it there.

"Now," I said.

He cupped me, thumb across my nipple, then his mouth, hot and greedy, and I threw my head back and rocked on him.
