Chapter 19: Stars on the County Road

The tailgate was down, and the sleeping bags were open on the truck bed, and neither of us was wearing a stitch.

It was forty-eight degrees at ten at night, in the second week of March.

After four months of nine degrees, that was a heat wave.

The thaw ran all around us.

Meltwater dripped off the pines and talked in the ditches, and the county road shone black under the stars.

Reeve had backed the F-250 into the turnout above the house, where the whole valley lay lit below.

"This is the best idea you ever had," I said.

"It was your idea."

"Then it's mine." I knelt over him on the quilted bag and kissed him. "Lie back."

He lay back on the flannel with his hands behind his head, stretched out under the Milky Way.

The truck bed was long enough for his legs.

I looked down the whole length of him, pale in the starlight, from his chipped smile to his thick hard cock lying against his belly.

"You're so beautiful," I said.

"Page."

"You are. Let me say it."

I kissed his mouth, and his throat, and the mark over his heart that had faded to yellow.

I straddled his thigh and rubbed myself along the hard muscle of it, slowly, leaving a wet shine on his skin.

He watched me do it with his lips parted.

"Use me," he said.

"I am."

I ground on his thigh until my breath shook.

Then I kissed down his chest and his stomach, and took the hard heat of him in my hand.

I stroked once.

His breath fogged white in the chill.

"Turn around," he said.

"What?"

"Turn around. Put your knees by my head."

I stared at him, and then I understood, and a hot rush went through me.

I swung one leg over his chest and turned, and knelt above his face with my hands on his thighs.

His hands closed on my hips.

"Lower," he said.

I lowered myself.

His mouth found me, hot and wet, and I cried out so loudly that it echoed off the hill.

I put my head down against his hip and took him into my mouth.

For a long time there was nothing but that.

His tongue worked me in slow deep laps and then a quick flick.
