Chapter 6: Cloud Terrace

The Cloud Terrace hung off the back of the Jade Pavilion like a balcony at the end of the world.

It was a round platform of white jade with no railing.

Below it the sea of cloud rolled away silver under a huge moon.

Wuyan had carried her out there wrapped in one of his own robes, with her wet hair dripping on his arm.

He set her down on a low wide couch heaped with dark cushions and sat beside her.

Neither of them said anything for a while.

The wind smelled like snow and plum blossom.

"It's beautiful," Zhiyao said at last.

"I come here when I can't sleep."

"How often is that?"

"Most nights, for three hundred years."

She turned her head and looked at him.

The moonlight picked out the silver at his temples and made his eyes look deep water.

"You're not going to be on your own tonight," she said.

She pushed the robe off her shoulders.

It slid down her arms and pooled on the cushions, and the night air touched every inch of her bare skin.

Goosebumps rose.

She didn't feel cold.

She felt the way he was looking at her.

"Lie back," Zhiyao said.

"Here?"

"Here."

"Anyone could see."

"Who? The clouds?"

He lay back among the cushions, naked and huge, with one arm behind his head.

She saw the corner of his mouth lift.

"Yes, my lady."

She started at his throat.

She kissed it, and the hollow below it, and then she kissed the long white scar across his ribs.

He went very still under her mouth.

"Who gave you this one?" she murmured.

"A man who was afraid."

"And this?"

"A man who was braver."

She kissed every scar she could reach, slowly, one after another, down his chest to the line of dark hair below his navel.

His stomach flexed under her lips.

She bit lightly at the muscle over his hip, and he swore under his breath.

"Zhiyao."

"You said I could take my time."

"I did say that."

"So lie there and be good."

His hands fisted in the cushions.

"Yes, my lady," he said again, much more roughly.

She knelt over his hips with a knee on either side.

He was already hard again, and the thick length of him lay hot against her stomach.

She rocked forward and ran her pussy along it, slow, wet, not taking him in.

His breath hissed.

"Zhiyao."

"Mm?"

"You're teasing."

"I'm taking my time," she said. "You said I could."

She slid back and forth along his cock, and the head caught against her clit on every pass.

She gasped, and he gasped with her.

His hands came up to her hips and held there, hot and heavy, but he didn't pull her down.

He waited.

She could feel how much it cost him.

The muscles in his arms were drawn tight as cables, and a vein stood out at his temple.

"Please," he said, rough and low.

"Please what?"

"Take me in."

"Say it nicely."

"Please take me inside you, Zhiyao."

She lifted up, took him in her hand, and set the head of him against her entrance.
