Chapter 8: Hayloft
The hayloft was warm and gold and smelled like summer, even in spring.
Aoi had climbed the ladder to look for eggs, and Caelrin had climbed after her to carry the basket, and neither of them had thought about the eggs again.
She sat down in a pile of loose hay under the little loft door with her braids undone and her shirt hanging open.
He knelt in front of her, shirtless, with straw clinging to his hair.
"I have been thinking," he said.
"That's dangerous."
"About your mouth. And the rest of you at the same time."
"Both?"
"I would like to have both."
She laughed, low.
"Show me what you mean."
He caught her by the front of her open shirt and pulled her down into a kiss.
It was long, and lazy, and hungry underneath.
His hands pushed the shirt off her shoulders, and hers went to his trousers.
She kissed her way down his chest, over the scar and the ridged stomach, and he watched her with his lips parted.
"Not yet," he said, when she reached his belt.
"Why not?"
"Because I have a plan."
"Tell me the plan."
"You will see."
He lay back in the hay and pulled her over him by the hips, with his hands warm on her thighs.
She understood a second before it happened.
"Oh," Aoi said. "Oh, you want."
"Sit," said Caelrin. "Over my face. Turn around."
Her stomach swooped.
She rose on her knees, shed her shirt, and stepped out of her skirt.
She turned and settled over him with her knees on either side of his head, facing his body.
His hands slid up her thighs.
