Chapter 19: Not Forgiven

My bedroom was small, with a slanted ceiling and a double bed under the window.

He had to duck coming through the door.

I pushed it shut behind us with my heel and stood with my back against it, and I didn't let go of his hand.

"Take your shirt off," I said.

He did.

He pulled it over his head in one move and dropped it on the floor, and the streetlight lay across his chest.

I'd seen it once in the owner's suite, in the half-dark, and I'd been too busy to look.

Now I looked.

He was broad and furred with dark hair, with the long scar down his ribs, and a belly that was soft under hard muscle.

I laid my palm flat on his sternum.

His heart was pounding against it.

"You're nervous," I said.

"I'm trying not to do anything wrong."

"Good."

I pushed him backward, one step, two, until the backs of his knees hit the bed.

He sat.

I stood between his thighs and pulled my sweater over my head.

I took off the camisole under it and let it drop.
