Tavrian had asked for a comfortable chair and received the apology chair from Maerielle's house.
Thessa stood beside it in the entrance hall.
"She said she didn't need it for receiving visitors anymore," the companion explained.
He looked at the carved arms he'd refused to occupy before.
"Then why is it here?"
"The man carrying it followed your footman."
The duke looked at his footman.
The man looked at the chair as though it had made its own arrangements.
Tavrian nearly laughed before realizing neither servant would know whether that meant criticism.
"We'll use it," he said.
Thessa gave him an approving nod and went back to collect her employer.
He moved the chair into the room he'd chosen for Maerielle's visit.
It was near his own sitting room, with windows looking onto a small garden.
