Miles's POV
On Thursday, Finlay arrived while I was getting ready for my date.
He held an unopened box of shelves against his chest.
"You're good at putting things together," he told me.
I looked at the shelf behind my sofa.
I'd propped one end on a book to keep it level.
"I'm good at making them stay put," I said.
Finlay put the box down and looked at the book.
"We could borrow that one," he suggested.
"I'm still using it," I told him.
He sat on the sofa without asking me to open the box.
I liked him for remembering that part.
"I've got plans tonight," I told him.
Finlay looked at my shirt, which still had its shop label attached.
"You'll want to remove that," he said.
I took Gwyneth's little scissors from my pocket.
