Frank took the clipboard and held it against his chest for a second, and then he cleared his throat and walked away to check something that did not need checking.
I climbed the airstairs alone.
The cabin smelled of leather and new carpet. I sat in the seat by the window and put my palm on the cold glass.
Nothing in the plane was broken. I knew it the way I knew my own drawings.
Mitch stood at the bottom of the stairs and didn't come up.
"Tomorrow night," I said, through the open door. "Twelve-thirty. We take her up."
"We do," he said.
"Together."
"Together, Molly."
I went down the stairs to him, and we walked back across the floor between the chairs.
