Chapter 6: Names We Gave Each Other
The silence stretched until the lamp guttered.
"Here is a thing," Ju-an said finally. His voice was careful.
"I don't ask about the band on your chest. You don't ask about my leg."
"Rule one."
"Rule one. And I'd like to add rule two."
"What's rule two?"
"Neither of us is in trouble for lying to the other." Ju-an turned on his side to face him.
"We both came up that mountain with something to hide. Fine. I don't want to know it tonight."
Tae-gang let out a breath that was half relief and half something sadder.
"Okay."
"But I don't want to call you Dae-sik in here."
"No?"
"It's a name for the yard." Ju-an's finger traced his jaw. "I want a name that belongs to this room."
Tae-gang thought about it.
He looked at the big black shadow of his own shoulder on the wall.
"Rock," Ju-an said, before he could speak. "Dol. You're built like one, and you don't move when pushed."
"That's an insult."
"It's a compliment. It's the best compliment I've got."
"Then you're Ink," Tae-gang said. "Muk. Because you smell like it, and you stain everything you touch."
Ju-an's smile broke slow and wide and real.
"Ink," he repeated. "I like it."
"Ink."
"Say it again."
"Ink. Ink, come here."
Ju-an came.
He crawled on top of Tae-gang and kissed him with a hunger that hadn't touched him a minute ago.
His hair fell around their faces.
Tae-gang's hands settled at his waist, and Ju-an's hips began to roll against his.
He was hard again, impossibly, instantly, with Ju-an's oiled skin sliding over him.
"I want you inside me," Ju-an said against his mouth. "Rock. Please."
The word went through him.
"It's your. Your first."
"I know. I've wanted it since the bathhouse. Don't make me beg."
"I want you to beg a little," Tae-gang said, surprising himself.
Ju-an went still.
Then a slow wicked grin curved his mouth.
"Then I will," he said. "Later. Right now I want to see your face when you're in me."
He pushed Tae-gang onto his back on the quilts and poured oil into his palm.
Tae-gang's breath hissed as Ju-an's slick hand wrapped around him and stroked him from root to tip, thoroughly, coating every inch.
"You're so big," Ju-an said, looking down. "I'm going to feel you for a week."
"That's what you want?"
"That's exactly what I want."
Tae-gang flipped them.
It was easy, with his weight, and Ju-an yelped and then laughed as his back hit the quilts.
Tae-gang knelt between his thighs and lifted his legs, one at a time, onto his own shoulders.
Ju-an's hips tilted up, open, offered, a pale line of body folded against Tae-gang's chest.
The white bandage ran along the outside of his left thigh, bright in the lamplight.
Tae-gang turned his head and kissed the inside of the other thigh.
He found the tender, hidden skin high up, where Ju-an's pulse beat, and set his teeth to it.
Ju-an gasped.
Tae-gang bit down, sucked, and held.
Ju-an's whole body twisted.
"Rock!"
When Tae-gang let go, a deep red mark bloomed on the pale skin, a neat oval of teeth.
He looked at it with fierce, bashful satisfaction.
"Mine," he said, and then went red. "I mean."
