Chapter 29: The Long Night
The supply tent was full of axes and rope and it smelled like tar.
So we didn't stay there.
There was an inn half a mile up the river, burned out years ago, with two walls still standing and a floor.
Nobody was using it.
I took him there.
I got a fire going in the hearth that was still there.
He stood in the middle of the floor and watched me do it.
When the fire caught, I turned around.
He was still standing there.
"Come here," I said.
He came.
I took his robe off him.
It was easy. The sash was loose. I got it open and pushed the robe off his shoulders and it fell on the floor.
He stood there in his tunic with his arms at his sides.
I pulled the tunic up over his head.
He let me.
