I sat up.
He was still asleep.
I took his wrist and turned it toward the light.
It was there. Small. Brown. A circle with a dot in the middle.
The same as mine.
I let go of his wrist and sat there on the floor.
He woke up a few minutes later.
He looked at me and then at the light and then at his own wrist.
He saw it.
He didn't say anything for a long time.
He sat up and put his back against the wall and looked at his wrist in the gray light.
"How long has it been there," I said.
"I don't know."
"Think."
He thought.
"Last night," he said. "In the tent. When I was packing. My wrist itched."
"You didn't look."
"No."
He turned his wrist over again.
"What is it," he said.
