Micah took one step toward Tristan, and the fish-market men closed up around the sidewalk.
"Mister," said the driver, with a crate on his shoulder. "You want this car moved?"
Tristan looked at the six big men, at the phones now held up in a half-circle, and at the barefoot android in the quilt.
He got into the black sedan and drove away without his coffee.
Micah stood in the road and shook.
"He sold your forty nights," Ansel said quietly.
"He sold you."
"We can sort out whose it was later."
He took Micah's hand.
"What can we do before Thursday?" Ansel asked.
Astrid had the answer, because she had spent the whole night on it.
"Wednesday," she said, in the kitchen, with a pencil between her teeth and the owner index open on three screens.
"The Companion Line launch is Wednesday, at the Seaport convention hall."
"A thousand shareholders and every tech reporter in New England."
