Chapter 23: The View

Hazel's POV

I unlocked his apartment door with the green apple key, because I wouldn't let him do it.

The lights were off.

The whole city was in the windows.

For three weeks I had walked through that room and never once looked at it.

"You have a view," I said.

"I'm told."

I walked across the dark floor to the glass.

Forty blocks south, the Lyle Group tower stood lit against the sky, with its name running down the side in white letters.

LYLE.

"Tomorrow," I said.

"Tomorrow."

He came up behind me and put both hands on my hips.

His mouth found the place under my ear. I leaned back against him and closed my eyes.

"You said you'd say it every day," I said.

"Madam CEO."

"Again."

"Madam CEO," he said, into my neck, and his hands moved under my sweater and found my breasts.

I made a sound and pressed back against him.

I could feel him already, hard through his trousers, pressed against the base of my spine.

"Take my clothes off," I said. "I want to look out the window."

He did it slowly.

The sweater first, over my head. Then the bra, and he kissed each shoulder where the strap had been.

He knelt to ease my jeans down my legs, and he stayed there a moment, with his forehead against my hip.

"You're shaking," I said.

"So are you."

"I'm cold."

"No, you're not."

He was right.

He stood and turned me to face the glass and set my palms flat on it, high up, one on each side.

The window was cool and the room was warm.
