Chapter 9: Both of Them

Élise's POV

Sergio's bedroom was the only room in the manor I had never been allowed to enter.

I stood in the doorway on Thursday night and finally understood why.

It was huge and dark, with a bed the size of a boat and a wall of windows that looked out over the black hills.

Over the fireplace hung a framed photograph of a woman in a yellow raincoat laughing, with a small girl on her hip.

I knew the raincoat, and the woman in it was my mother.

"You kept this in here," I said. "All this time."

"Where I'd see it when I woke," Sergio said. "So I would remember who I answered to."

"To her?"

"To you."

I did not understand that, and he did not explain it.

Sergio sat on the edge of the bed with his sleeves rolled up, and Marco stood at the window with his back to me.

"We have one night before Friday," Sergio said. "I want you to have something to carry into that room."

"What is Friday?"

"Business. Come here."

I went to him.

He cupped my face and kissed me slowly, the way he did when he wanted me to stop thinking.

It worked.

His hands slid under my nightdress and pulled it over my head, and I stood naked between them in the lamplight with my collar on.

Marco turned from the window.

He had taken off his shirt, and his chest and shoulders were a map of black ink.

"You said both," he said.

"I did."

"Then we do it properly. Tell us what's yours."

I took a breath.

"Mouth," I said. "Pussy. Hands."

"And?"

"Not my ass. Not yet. Maybe never."

"Never's fine," Marco said at once.

"Then that's the limit," Sergio said. "Anything else, the same as always. Stop me with a word."

"I know."

"Good girl."

He lay back on the bed and drew me over him.
