Chapter 15: Director Choi
The house in Samcheong-dong had a tiled roof, a stone courtyard, and a private room at the back with a table for six.
Four seats were already taken when Ha-jun walked in.
Director Choi Dae-sik sat at the head of the table in a navy suit.
He was round-faced and smiling, with a glass of rice wine in front of him.
On his left sat the broadcaster's head producer.
Beside her sat two men in good coats, wearing the lapel pins of the two ad brands that had paused Ha-jun's contracts.
Ha-jun's stomach turned over.
Choi had brought the people who held his money.
"Ha-jun," Choi said warmly, rising halfway. "Thank you for coming. Sit, sit."
"Thank you for inviting me, Director."
Ha-jun bowed to the room and sat on the right side of the table, and Seung-ho came in behind him and stood by the door.
Choi's eyes slid to him and brightened.
"Seung-ho. My boy. You look well."
"Director."
"You've lost weight."
"I eat, sir."
"Come, sit. There's an empty chair."
