Chapter 6: The Dock

Four pairs of eyes shone in the tamaracks across the water.

I saw them first from the dock, where I'd gone to be alone.

Casimir came out behind me with his coat over his arm and stopped.

"Council wolves," he said.

"They've been out there since Thursday."

"They want to see what the plain wolf does," I said.

"Then let's go in and give them nothing."

"No," I said.

I turned around and looked at him, tall and broad against the lit kitchen window.

"Let them see I'm fine," I said. "Let them see exactly how fine."

He read my face for a long moment.

The cold off the lake was sharp enough to hurt, and my breath smoked between us.

"Sigrid," he said.

"Yes. Here."

I hooked my fingers in his belt and walked him backward to the old cedar chair at the end of the dock.

He sat when the back of his knees hit it, and I put one boot on either side of his thighs.

"Coat," I said.

He spread it over his lap and the chair arms, a wide dark wool tent against the wind.

I unbuckled his belt and opened his jeans.

His cock was already hard in my hand, hot in all that cold, and he let his head fall back against the wood.

"They can see us," he said.

"They can see your face," I said. "They can't see what I'm doing."

"Fuck."

"Good. Keep saying it."

I pushed my own jeans and underwear down to my knees, bare in the night air, and the wind raised gooseflesh down my thighs.

Then I sat in his lap, under the coat, and took the head of him against me.

"Slow," he said hoarsely.

"Mine to decide," I said. "Hold still."
