Chapter 7: Steam
The shower in his bathroom had six heads and a marble bench, and by the time I stepped in, the glass had steamed over white.
Sand was still in my hair from the beach.
Asher stood under the spray with his eyes shut and the water running down his chest.
It ran over the red crescent I had left on his shoulder.
He opened his eyes and looked at me, standing naked in the doorway of the glass.
"You're awake," he said.
"I'm dirty," I said.
"You were thoroughly dirty at two in the morning."
"That was a different kind," I said.
He held out his hand and I took it and stepped under the water.
It was hot and hard against my shoulders.
He turned me around and took the shampoo from the shelf, and worked it into my scalp with the pads of his fingers.
I let my head fall forward.
He rubbed slow circles behind my ears and down my neck, and he did not skip the place where Nunzio had kissed me.
He washed that, too, with his thumb, gently.
"Nobody has done this for me in ten years," I said.
"Done what?"
"Washed my hair."
"I'm told it's a skill," he said.
I turned around inside his arms and found his mouth.
The water ran between us, and his soapy hands slid down my back and over my ass and pulled me against him.
His cock was hard already, lying hot against my stomach.
I reached down and took it in my hand, slick with soap, and he groaned into my mouth.
"I dealt to men for ten years," I said, between kisses. "Do you know how many asked my name?"
"How many?"
"Not one. I was Dealer. I was Miss. I was Hey, honey."
I stroked him slowly, root to tip.
"Every night I put cards down for people who never looked up."
