Chapter 10: Hands on the Rail
"One hour," I said. "You give the orders. I obey."
Steam rose off the hot tub into the Friday night air, and the pool light turned the whole lanai a shifting blue.
It was the seventh night, and I stood on the wet stone at the edge of the water in a white towel.
The three of them stood in front of me in their swim trunks, and not one of them moved.
Rafa started to laugh and put a hand over his mouth.
"Jefa," he said. "You are serious."
"One hour, Rafa," I said. "Then I want my voice back."
"Your rule was, in this house you give the orders," he said.
"Tonight I'm giving them away," I said.
I let the towel fall.
Rafa stopped laughing.
He looked at Dom, and Dom looked at Quino, and Quino looked at me.
Nobody spoke for a moment, and I felt my pulse everywhere.
"Into the water," Dom said.
His voice was slow and low, and it had changed.
It was the voice that ran the club on Sunday nights, and it was aimed at me.
I stepped down the tub's stone steps into water up to my waist.
It was hot, and it closed around my thighs, and I gasped.
"Hands on the rail, jefa," Rafa said.
I turned to the stainless rail that ran along the edge and gripped it with both hands.
My back was to them, and the water lapped at my hips.
I heard Rafa move behind me, and the water rise as another body stepped in.
"Say yes, ma'am," Dom said.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Spread your feet."
I spread them.
"Quino," Dom said.
Quino came down into the water and stood beside me.
He took my wrists in his left hand, one over the other, and pinned them to the rail above my head.
His grip was gentle and absolute.
I shut my eyes.
"Count," Dom said.
His palm came down on my wet ass, hard.
The crack of it rang across the water, and I cried out.
"One," I said.
He did it again.
"Two."
The sting spread, hot and bright, and the heat of the water made it sharper.
