The quilt flew.
It unfurled in the air like a sail, pink and enormous, and wrapped itself around Dex's shoulders.
He screamed, a real scream, high and furious.
Ribbons poured through the window.
They bound his ankles, his knees, his wrists, and they pulled his hands together at his chest and pressed them flat against the quilt.
"No!" he shouted.
"No, this isn't, I didn't, I'm not the..."
"Page twenty," the mayor said from the sill.
He was reading, not unkindly.
"'The least kind guest tucks in Sleepy Bear.' Please mind the corners, Mr. Lorimer."
The ribbons walked him across the room.
He fought them every step, but there were forty of them and they were patient.
They hauled him to the foot of the Bed.
They hauled his fists up, and the quilt came with them, and I understood that they would do it whether he held it or not.
"Juno!"
It was the first time I had heard him say my name without a smile around it.
