Mina took my wrist and pulled me into the bathroom.
She locked the door behind us.
It was all white marble and mirror lights.
Her makeup was laid out on a towel in rows.
Half her face was done.
The other half was just my sister.
"How much?" she said.
"All of it."
"Define all of it."
"Three weeks. They let you go three weeks ago." My voice sounded strange in all that marble. "And my program went the same afternoon."
She turned to the mirror and picked up a brush.
"Nobody let me go. I'm between firms."
"You told forty women they let me go on a Tuesday."
"They did let you go on a Tuesday."
"Because of you."
She put powder on the bare side of her face, very carefully.
"You were a summer intern, Hana. You alphabetized binders. Don't make it a tragedy."
"You stood up with a microphone and told everyone I was useless."
