Chapter 19: The Night Before
"Stand next to me tomorrow," Blaine said.
The moon had moved a little way across the sky.
They were still on the rock, still with their foreheads touching, and the phone lay dark on the stone between them.
"I'll stand wherever you want."
"I don't want you in front. I don't want you behind." Blaine's thumb moved along Perry's jaw. "I want you beside me, at the table, where he can see. Whatever he says."
"Blaine."
"I've never asked anyone to stand next to me." He said it plainly, as a fact. "I've always been the one at the front, so nobody gets close enough to ask."
"Next to you," Perry said. "Whatever he says."
Blaine let out a breath that shook.
He kissed him, and this time it went on a long time.
It started as an answer and became something else, slow and deepening.
Blaine's hand slid down Perry's back and under the hem of his shirt.
Perry shivered.
"Cold?" Blaine asked.
"No."
