Chapter 24: The Wolf Who Saved Me

The coffee at Ridge Hall was terrible.

Ronan made it every morning in a dented pot, and he burned it every morning, and I drank it every morning anyway.

"It's a skill," he said, handing me the mug at the kitchen table. "Nobody else in the house can do it."

"Everybody else in the house is too kind to say so."

"I'm not offended."

"You should be. It tastes like the DSW break room."

He grinned, and it still surprised me every time.

I had a case file open in front of me, and a clipboard.

Beside them lay the Moot's first list of care homes, with eleven names on it.

Cedar Lodge was at the top.

"You're going to be late," Ronan said.

"I'm going to be right on time."

"You're going to be late," he said again, softer, and set down his mug.

He came around the table, took the pen out of my hand, and put his mouth against my neck.

"We have forty minutes," I said.

"I know."

"Aunts."

"Gone to town."

I pushed my chair back and stood, and he lifted me onto the table, scattering the file across the floor.

"Take it off," I said.

He pulled my cardigan from my shoulders, and my blouse, and his hands shook, which they always did.

I unbuckled his belt and pushed his jeans down and wrapped my hand around his cock.

"Mara."

"Yes?"

"Tell me what you want."

"First I want this," I said.

I slid off the table onto my knees and took his cock into my mouth.

He swore and braced both hands on the edge of the table.

I sucked him slowly, with my tongue flat along the underside, and then deeper, until he groaned my name.

"Stop," he said. "Mara, stop, or I'll..."

I let him slip out with a wet sound and looked up.

"Now I want you to fuck me on this table," I said, "and then I want you to drive me to work."
