Chapter 22: No Terms
Melina's POV
I kissed him on the loft stairs with the shop lights still off and his father's suit crushed in my fists.
He kissed me back hard, with both hands in my coat.
"We said daylight," he said against my mouth.
"It's dusk."
"The terms were daylight."
"You said it in front of twelve hundred people, Doran." I pulled him up another step. "I don't have terms anymore."
"Then what do you have?"
"A loft, and the whole evening, and you."
"Not in daylight."
"Close enough."
He laughed into my neck, and I felt it all the way down.
The loft was cold, and the tin roof ticked as it gave up the day's heat.
I pushed him backward onto Hal's old mattress, and the lamp with the cracked shade went on under my hand.
"Take it off," I said.
"The suit?"
"All of it."
He stripped faster than I'd ever seen him do anything.
The jacket went, and the tie, and the shirt with its one missing button, and then he stood in the lamplight with his scar bright on his forearm.
"You too," he said.
"Not yet."
I stayed in my black coat and sweater and looked at him.
I took my time, and he let me.
He was lean and broad through the chest, with a long stretch of hard muscle down his belly and a line of dark hair that disappeared into his waistband.
He was already hard.
"You're staring," he said, almost shyly.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because I've wanted to for a week, and you were always looking at the floor."
