Chapter 6: Her Name in the Dark

By Wednesday I had slept in Hallie's hotel bed three nights.

I had also stopped checking my phone every ten minutes.

Brynn's boxes were supposed to be gone by Sunday.

On Wednesday morning she was at work, and Hallie came to my apartment for the first time.

She stood in the doorway and looked at the lamp, the toaster and the kitchen table where I had read the chat.

"It's very you," she said.

"Is that good?"

"It's quiet." She walked in and shut the door behind her with her heel. "I like quiet."

She put her bag down on the couch.

I came up behind her and put my mouth on the back of her neck, where her braid started.

She leaned back against my chest and sighed.

"I thought you had patients."

"I moved them. I wanted the morning."

"Of course you did." She turned around in my arms. "Show me the bedroom."

"It's Brynn's, partly."

"Then show me the couch."

I laughed, and she kissed me in the middle of it.

She pushed me down onto the cushions and straddled my lap, and I slid my hands up under her shirt.

Her skin was warm.

I found the clasp of her bra and opened it in one try, and she laughed against my mouth.

"Look at you, getting good at this."

"I had a great teacher."

"You had a very bored hotel guest."

I pulled her shirt over her head and put my mouth on her breast.

She groaned and rocked her hips against me, slow, grinding down on the hard line of my cock through my jeans.

I held her by the waist and pushed up to meet her.

"Take your clothes off," she said, her breath short. "Everything. Let me see you."

I stripped faster than I had ever done anything in my life.
