I put the phone on speaker and held it between us.
"Good morning, bride," Silvio said.
He sounded like a man buttering toast.
"Where is she?"
"Your aunt is having coffee with me. She's been very rude about the cups."
"Let me hear her."
"Later. First, my terms."
Rafe's jaw tightened beside me, and he didn't make a sound.
"There's a cold storage warehouse at the foot of Navy Pier," Silvio said. "The one with the blue door.
"You come at six tonight. You come alone, with no Santoro soldiers and no police.
"You walk in, and your aunt walks out.
"After that, you and I get married tonight, in front of a priest who owes my father money."
"No."
"Then your aunt stays in the cold room with the fish."
My hands were shaking, so I pressed them flat on my knees.
"And Livia," he said. "Bring the dog to drive you."
Rafe's head turned.
"Why?" I said.
"Because I want him to watch me take you from him. I want him standing there with his hands empty."
