Chapter 11: Morning Light
The sun came through the blinds in long bars, and I woke with Nikos's mouth on the back of my neck.
Last night Hugh Cullen had let the two of us stand in his doorway with our faces burning.
"Morning, nurse," he had said, from the pillow. "I've lain here ten days. I can lie here till breakfast. Go to bed."
I had gone to bed.
I had not slept much.
Now it was Monday, the light lay gold across the sheet, and a big warm hand was stroking down my side.
"You're awake," Nikos said into my skin.
"I'm thinking about it."
"Think later."
He was behind me, curled around my back, so much bigger than me that I fit inside the shape of him.
I could feel all of him against me.
He was hard already, thick and hot against the small of my back, and his arm lay heavy across my waist.
I pushed back against him.
He groaned into my hair.
"Good morning," I said.
"Good morning."
His hand moved from my hip up over my ribs and closed around my breast.
He rolled the nipple gently between his fingers, and I arched into his palm.
He kissed the side of my throat, my shoulder, the place below my ear that made me shiver.
There was no hurry in it.
I had never been touched so slowly by someone who wanted me so much.
"I like this," I said.
"I like you."
"Say it again."
"I like you, Lena," he said against my neck. "I like how you talk in your sleep. I like that you steal the blanket."
"I don't steal the blanket."
"You took it at three and wrapped it around you twice."
I laughed and the laugh turned into a gasp as his hand slid down my stomach.
His fingers parted me from behind, lazy and sure, and found me wet.
"Already," he said, pleased.
"You've been at it ten minutes."
"Eleven."
He circled my clit in slow, easy strokes, with my back pressed against his chest and his mouth on my shoulder.
