Chapter 22: Hold Still
The thing he had for me was a brown envelope.
He took it out of his coat pocket in the elevator and held it out with both hands.
"What is it?"
"Open it at home."
I opened it in the elevator.
It was a stack of legal pages, signed on the last sheet in black ink.
A deed of transfer.
Lakehead Holdings, by Axel Dahl, signed the note on Skogen Ice Arena over to Kaisa Lindqvist.
The price was one dollar, free and clear.
My eyes blurred.
"You can't just hand me a building."
"I can. I did."
"Axel."
"It was always yours." He swallowed. "I only held it."
I folded the papers and put them back in the envelope with shaking hands.
I put the envelope in my coat.
Then I took his face in my hands in the empty elevator.
"Take me home," I said. "Now."
He did.
It took twenty-six minutes, and neither of us spoke.
He carried me up the stairs of the big silent house and laid me on his bed.
I rose up on my knees and pulled my shirt off before the lamp was lit.
"Undress," I said. "Lie down. On your back."
He did, fast.
He stretched out naked on the white sheets, his chest rising and falling, his cock already straining toward his stomach.
I stood over him.
"I told you once that I'd decide," I said.
"You did."
"I'm still deciding."
"I know."
"Tonight, you hold still."
"Yes."
"Whatever I do."
"Whatever you do."
I took off the rest of my clothes and climbed onto the bed.
I knelt over his face.
He looked up at me from below, between my thighs, and his eyes went dark and wild and his lips parted.
I lowered myself an inch.
"Don't touch me with your hands," I said. "Only your mouth."
