"She's been hiding it for ten years," Haley went on. "Her father runs Palermo."
"Guns, drugs, whatever. And she's been sitting in our boardrooms, handling our money, like one of us."
She held up a photo to the camera.
It was me at sixteen, at my mother's funeral, beside my father in his black suit.
It had been in a Palermo newspaper fourteen years ago.
Someone had cut it out and kept it.
"That's her," Haley said. "That's Daddy."
The hearts floated up the side of the screen.
Seventy thousand watching now.
"So ask yourselves," she said, softer. "Who do you believe about that four million? The assistant who worked her way up? Or the mafia princess?"
Dario took the phone out of my hand and turned it face down on the table.
"Enough," he said.
"Turn it back over."
"Giulia."
"I need to see the end."
He turned it over.
