Chapter 8: Lumber Shed
The lumber shed was open on one side to the yard.
The rain on the tin roof was loud enough to hide a gunshot.
Milan pulled the sliding door shut behind us and dropped the wooden bar across it.
Inside it was gray, dim and dry, and it smelled of cedar and cut pine and sawdust.
Stacks of plywood stood in rows to the rafters.
A stack of sheeted birch near the back had a gray moving blanket folded over the top.
He walked me to it with his hand around my wrist.
"Turn around," he said. "Hands on the edge of that stack."
I turned and put both palms on the cold rim of the plywood.
It came up to my hips.
He stood behind me, and I felt him there without touching, heavy and warm.
"Jeans," he said.
I started to unbutton them.
"I didn't say you could do it yourself."
My hands stopped.
He reached around and undid them for me, slowly, one button at a time, and pushed them and my underwear down to my knees.
The shed air was cold on my bare skin.
He folded the moving blanket flat across the top of the stack and put his hand between my shoulder blades.
"Lie down on it," he said. "Face down."
I leaned forward and lay across the plywood with my cheek on the rough wool and my hips at the edge.
My feet were flat on the sawdust floor.
He nudged my boots apart with his, and I heard his belt.
His weight came down along my back.
He wasn't inside me yet, but he covered me from my shoulders to my thighs.
I felt his shirt and then his chest and then the hard length of him against my ass.
His mouth was at my ear, and his beard brushed my cheek.
