He pulled.
I didn't move.
He pulled harder, and my feet slid an inch on the old floorboards.
"Don't make a scene," he said into my ear. "You've made enough."
The Ironclaw side was still howling.
Across the room, Rhett was fighting to get past the council guards.
Mae was shouting something I couldn't hear.
Dominic pulled again.
"You'll have your old room," he said. "Celia's in the east wing now. You'll stay out of her way. You'll learn to keep your mouth shut at my table."
My feet slid another inch.
"And the runt," he said, softer. "If she ever does wake up, we'll train her properly this time."
The warm place under my heart went hot.
Not warm.
Hot.
Like a coal.
I stopped walking.
Dominic tugged. "Mireya."
Something inside me stood up.
I felt it from my ribs to my fingertips.
A low sound came out of my chest.
Not a word.
A growl.
Dominic let go of my arm.
The howling on the Ironclaw side stopped.
