We began packing by putting things down.
Rosamund placed a silver button beside her broken brooch, then reconsidered and removed a second button from her bag.
"The coat closes perfectly well without them," she said.
The young ghost unwrapped a teaspoon from his handkerchief.
The woman who had carried the cup watched him with the expression of a person who had warned him about teaspoons before.
I left the cracked cup on the small table beside Pippa.
It didn't need carrying any farther.
My cousin wanted to pack her bag herself.
I brought it to her stool and held it open while she folded her own things.
She examined each item before putting it inside.
The yellow socks on my feet belonged to her.
"You can keep those on," she said.
