Chapter 22: Roderick's Exit
The vote took four minutes.
The board chair read the motion aloud: that Roderick Blomqvist be removed as executive director, stripped of every title and signing power at the North Star Philharmonic, and that the auditor's findings be sent to the county attorney.
"Second," said the man with the donor's pin.
"All in favor."
Every hand in the rehearsal hall went up.
The board members' hands went up, and then, ridiculously, the players' hands did too, forty of them, on the risers, bows still in their laps.
"Players do not vote," the board chair said, with a straight face.
"We do today," said Agatha.
"Noted," said the board chair. "Carried."
Roderick's lawyer closed his folder.
He stood, nodded to nobody, and walked out of the room without his client.
That was the moment I knew it was over.
