Chapter 5: No Touching

"Singapore," I said, with his face still pushed back under my hand.

He took my wrist and lowered it, gently, between us.

"A hotel deal. I had signed for it already. I flew out instead of staying, because I couldn't be in this house."

"You couldn't be in the house."

"No."

"I'm the one who left."

"You left the house," Angelo said. "I'm the one who couldn't stay in it."

It was the closest he had come to saying anything.

It wasn't enough.

It made my chest hurt, and I hated that, so I did the only thing I could think of that would send the hurt somewhere else.

I put my palm flat on his chest.

I felt him stop breathing.

"You said no touching," he said, very quietly.

"Shut up."

I fisted his T-shirt in both hands and pulled his mouth down onto mine.

This time I was the one who kissed him.

He made a sound against my lips, rough and almost pained, and then his control cracked down the middle.

He lifted me off the refrigerator and carried me down the hall to the guest room without breaking the kiss.

The door banged shut behind us under his heel.

He laid me on the bed with a care that was almost insulting, and I pulled him down by the collar.

"Don't be careful," I said.

"Your ankle."

"I don't care about my ankle."

His mouth went to my throat, then my collarbone, and his hands dragged my T-shirt up and off over my head.

I wasn't wearing anything under it.

He stopped.

He looked at all of me in the light from the hall, and I watched his throat move as he swallowed.

"You're thinner," he said, and his voice was rough.

"Angelo."

"I'm going to feed you for a month."

"Angelo, if you don't touch me right now, I swear..."
