Chapter 7: First
"I'm sober," Linus said. "I'm asking. Fuck me."
He said it on his back on the white bed, naked, with the lamp on and the door locked.
Leandros knelt over him in the lamplight and went completely still.
"Say it again."
"Fuck me, Leandros," Linus said.
"Why now?"
"Because I've had two days to think." Linus's voice was steady, which surprised him. "I thought about the mistake. I tried to make it into one. I couldn't."
"Linus."
"I want you. Not because I was drunk, and not because of the oath. Because you hold your breath when I touch you."
Leandros said nothing.
His beads were wound around his left hand, and Linus reached up, unwound them gently, and set them on the night table.
"Tonight," Linus said, "I don't want you holding anything back."
"I'll hurt you."
"Then do it slowly."
A muscle moved in the man's jaw.
He took Linus's wrist, turned it over, and kissed the pulse.
Then he took the beads from the table and wound them once around the same wrist, loose, cool, a bracelet of amber.
"Mine," he said.
"Yours."
"Say it again."
"Yours," Linus said, "for tonight."
"We'll talk about the length of the lease later."
Linus laughed, and Leandros bent and kissed him, and the laugh turned into something else.
It was a long kiss, open and deep, and he was in no hurry at all.
His hands moved over Linus's body without hurry.
They found his ribs, his hips, the soft inside of his thighs.
They pushed his legs wide, and Linus let them.
"Look at me," Leandros said.
