Chapter 13: What the Healer Left

Ewan woke with Kit's weight lying heavy across his chest and the fire burned down to red.

The knot had gone soft hours ago.

He still felt the shape of it in his body, the ache of being held that tightly and letting go.

Kit slept with his mouth open against Ewan's collarbone and one hand curled into the hair on his stomach.

His breath was warm and slow.

Ewan did not move.

He had not slept this deeply since the night in the snow, and the strangeness of it made him afraid to breathe.

"Ask me again tomorrow," Kit had said.

It was tomorrow.

Kit stirred, and his thigh slid up between Ewan's legs.

They both went hard at once, and Kit's eyes opened, grey and unfocused and amused.

"Already," Kit mumbled.

"You started it."

"I was asleep."

"You were not asleep with your leg there."

Kit laughed, a rough sleepy sound, and reached down between them.

His fingers closed around Ewan's cock, and Ewan's head went back on the pillow.

"Quiet," Kit said, in his ear. "Let me."

He stroked him slowly, thumb circling the head, with his lips against Ewan's jaw.
